Shelley West, M.Sc.
Shelley West earned her Masters of Science in Psychology from Acadia University in May 2006. In 2009, she established her private practice in Kentville, Nova Scotia, located in the beautiful Annapolis Valley. After practicing psychology for a decade, in 2016 Shelley expanded her practice to a new location (just around the corner) and has named it Annapolis Valley Psychological Services. Shelley is a Registered Clinical Psychologist, specializing in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with a client-centered approach.
Dr. Johan Reis, B.Sc., D.C.S., M.Ed., Ed.D.
Dr. Johan Reis is a Registered Clinical Psychologist currently located in Waterloo, Ontario, but is also registered and practicing in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. He has been practicing as a Counsellor and a Psychologist since 1987. Dr. Reis' parents immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands and they landed at Pier 21 in Halifiax, making the province his favourite province where, to this day, his family resides.
Vanessa Wotherspoon, B.Ed., M.A.S.P.
Vanessa Wotherspoon is a Registered School Psychologist and former Resource Teacher. For several decades, Vanessa has provided Psycho-Educational Assessments in order to diagnose Learning Disabilities and screen for Attention and/or Executive Functioning difficulties. She has a declared competency in counseling and experience with behavioral consultation. She has also previously facilitated groups in areas related to managing emotions and self-regulation and has completed Yoga-in-the- Schools teacher training Vanessa is a writer who writes poetry and children's stories using rhyme, rhythm, and reason.
Debra Hickling, B.A.
Debra Hickling earned her Bachelors Degree in Gerontology from McMaster University in June 2002. In 2008, she earned her Post-Secondary Certificate, with Distinction, in Applied Counselling from Conestoga College. After spending her career working in the Health Care industry in Ontario, Debra and her husband moved to the Annapolis Valley in the Spring of 2020. In May 2021, Debra was thrilled to join Annapolis Valley Psychological Services Inc. as the Practice Manager.
